You mentioned on the blog that you were excited about getting the best of weddings for the Knot 2011. Doesn’t everyone who advertises in TK get a best of status?

My understanding is that in past years if a vendor advertises with The Knot, they are mentioned as part of the Best of Weddings with a special symbol near their name and marked as “notable”. I have never advertised on The Knot in any way so my Best of Weddings for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011 have been made entirely by my brides. I’m a lucky girl to be loved so much!

Should I hire a DJ or can I get away with an Ipod? Are all DJs cheesy?

You should absolutely, positively, and definitely hire a DJ if you have a dancing crowd. And no, they are not all cheesetastic. I adore DJs like Glenn Roush, William Ryan, and Tommy Evans for not only being able to read the room and tailor the music to it, but to also be the Master of Ceremonies in a professional and energizing way.

What is your most favorite and least favorite trends that you are seeing?

I mentioned a bit ago that Fort Worth brides are opting to do toasts at the rehearsal dinner instead of on the wedding day to make room for more dancing and merriment. I think that’s a wonderful idea, especially if you have very shy attendants who are not comfortable speaking in front of a crowd.

What else is rocking my socks?

New styles of wedding dresses.: the one shoulder Grecian goddess, the lace overlaid mermaid, the low cut sexy back, the modern clean lines with a touch of bling.

Custom invites and paperie.

Groom getting custom adornment: socks, ties, cufflinks, and shoes.

Changing things up for the reception: adding a floral headpiece or changing out a part of the outfit.

I haven’t at all noticed a trend that I dislike, but it seems like the amount of sparklers I am coming across has decreased in number. Love shooting them, but always walk right into one … .

Where do you think cheese belongs?

In my mouth. Nom, nom.
