Leandra and Dale had an extraordinarily unique wedding ceremony and story surrounding it. I did know ahead of time that their church, Bent Tree Fellowship in Carrolton, Texas, would be doing several weddings in one day and that the church had secured their own photographer to document those ceremonies.

Real talk: this can be a very stressful thing for a photographer – a situation where you are responsible to document the wedding ceremony and to be respectful to another photographer who is also responsible to do the same. I mentioned my concerns to Leandra and asked her what she wanted me to do – as she requested, I walked the delicate line of getting the images that I needed and not getting in the other photographer’s way during the ceremony and portraits that followed at the church.

Real talk, part 2: this was a huge exception to how I normally work and it required a lot of trust and communication between myself and the bride. I think any small business owner will tell you that when you make an exception, there is a high probability that you may get burned so talking through all of the scenarios is incredibly important.

Real talk, part 3: this worked out really well. Not very interested in tempting fate again.
