Hi friends. It’s Friday and I have a feeling your lives need a little silliness today. I didn’t really know about this Mercury Retrograde stuff, nor do I really believe in it, but the month of July really had me questioning my sanity. I just felt like everyone had lost their freaking minds last month and I was completely speaking a different language no one could understand. If you are friends with me on Facebook, you have been keenly aware of my July crazy and have (hopefully) laughed along with me.

So here’s a glimpse into Evan’s birthday earlier this year. Is this where I admit his birthday was in April and I’m just posting this? Yeah, there. Admitted.

He requested that we start the day with a ‘light jog’. So Vivian and her husband Josh joined us and THEN Vivian became keenly aware that we were going 5 miles. Don’t want to ruin the ending, but she made it. We all did.

After the jog (and a shower), Evan dressed up in his TRex dinosaur costume and ran through Deep Ellum. This was  Saturday, early afternoon and there were plenty of people laughing and cheering him on. The front of his sign read “I’m having a Dyno-mite birthday” and the back read “I’d honk, but my arms are too short”.  Amazing sign was courtesy of our artist, Vivian. The three of us followed along and laughed hysterically.

Did you want me to gloss over the ninja? I would never do that to you. I have no idea where he came from, but they had an epic Mortal Kombat style battle for 2 minutes and then they both got tired and went their separate ways.

Next up on the agenda was the birthday cake. When Evan asked me if I knew what he wanted for his cake, I brushed him off and answered “of course!”. O, but I was so wrong. He wanted a funfetti cake with chocolate icing ON TOP OF a cheesecake from Val’s. O you read that right. A cake ON TOP OF another cake. Vivian made the funfetti & chocolate iced cake and I purchased the cheesecake from Val’s. No, I didn’t tell Val what I was doing, he was surprised enough that I just wanted a plain cheesecake and tried to offer me strawberry topping. Vivian didn’t question Evan, nor did I. He never kids when it comes to cake.

We rounded out our day with a Texas Rangers game. We even got a fun photo bomber in our pictures, he turned out to be friends with past clients of mine on facebook so we all had a huge laugh. And that’s how we roll.
