WHAT ARE ENGAGEMENTS?
Think of these portraits as the official announcement of your engagement. They are most likely your first set of professional pictures together – and that’s a lot of pressure for this next step in your relationship.

What if one of you smiles like a serial killer?
What if your partner to tries to wear stripes AND polka dots?
What if you want to bring a pet wombat but he’s still in a ‘bitey phase’?

Don’t worry, I’ve got this – it’s my time to shine and show you how stupidly easy portraits will flow on your wedding day. I’ll also indoctrinate you with my carefully crafted array of dirty jokes and turn you into professional-level models.

WHO DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH?
At the heart of everything, everyone at Lynn Michelle Photography believes in love – in all of the unique ways that it can be found, shared and celebrated. What our clients have in common is that they are kind, loving, slightly sarcastic and think I’m f*#@ing hilarious … or is that that the clients are extraordinarily sarcastic and I’m slightly hilarious? Either way …

WHEN DO WE TAKE ENGAGEMENTS?
Engagements can be shot right after booking or anytime you are ready for them. Just a reminder that the Texas summer is scorching hot so I suggest planning for them before mid-June or after early September. For best results, I highly suggest a session starting approximately 2 hours before sunset. This can be anywhere from 3:30 to 7pm, depending on the time of year! In the spring and early summer, this means that we can photograph after work (6pm or so) during the week or on one of my available weekends.

HOW LONG DO THEY TAKE?
Sessions last about an hour. I stop when I have utterly and fully filled my camera with amazingness or your fiance gets hungry, whichever comes first.

WHAT DO YOU WEAR?
I don’t mind an outfit change, but it’s not required if you look so ridiculously good in one outfit that my brain might explode. If you decide to do a casual & dressy outfit, it’s easiest to start with the dressier option.

The casual outfit generally consists of jeans for both parties and a comfortable solid colored top. Solids are your best friend! Stay away from busy patterns, stripes and plaids. It’s easy to pick a color that looks good on you – walk into your closet and see what color you buy the most of. Easy.

If you are a rule breaker. then forget everything I just said and dress like yourself. Inflatable t-rex suits are also highly encouraged.

MAKEUP?
If you have the opportunity, definitely have your makeup professionally done or wear a full coverage foundation. My lights are bright and unforgiving, as is the bright sun.

WHAT ABOUT UNPREDICTABLE WEATHER?
All of our fun outdoor locations bring with them the possibility of playing in the rain. In my non-professional meteorological opinion, May is usually the rainiest month. When there is no backup or rain option, portraits can easily be rescheduled for another available date as my camera gear does not play well with rain.

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?
Keep it simple: bring a change of clothes (although totally optional), lip-gloss, and the location fee (if required).

If you are bringing a pet, please make sure to bring treats and a pet handler to entertain them (and me) between shots.

WHAT WILL I BRING?
I’ll be there. I may also bring some camera equipment 🙂

WHERE DO YOU GET DRESSED?
Some locations have a dressing rooming or bathroom that can be utilized. Most people are really adept at changing in their cars, even as we stand around and point at them. For the shy types, I do have a handy-dandy pop up changing tent. It’s just about as much fun as it sounds – just remind me to bring it if you need it because I don’t normally take it to engagement sessions otherwise.

WHERE ARE WE GOING?!
There are many wonderful locations in the area that can be easily broken up into two groups: free and not free. If a public park or downtown area is what you are dreaming of we can attack with free and careless vigor. For engagement pictures, I don’t mind moving between locations that are within a relatively close radius to one another. Read: walking distance or a mild car ride.

I like to personalize portraits as much as possible. So tell me where you met, what you like to do, and anything else in your annotated biography that I might find interesting.

Last, but not least, I have a super secretive and totally awesome suggested list of locations that I am happy to send to my booked clients for additional ideas.
